Following rainfall across Central Australia during the months of February and March 2026, the Elkedra Propacc and homestead gained media attention after sustaining significant damage, having received more than twice its annual average rainfall within a 48 hour period. This resulted in the leaseholders evacuating and their home being submerged underwater on multiple occasions.This road is not only utilised by the station owners, as it forms part of major access route for the surrounding communities such as Imangara, Ampilatwatja, Alparra, Murray Downs Cattle Station and NT Police.The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is required to repair the road to its preexisting condition, ensuring safety, serviceability and compliance with DLI Standard Specifications.
