Currently, Communities provides funding to a service provider to operate a supported accommodation service for up to 27 clients experiencing homelessness. Communities is seeking to procure a new service provider with access to a suitable accommodation facility to transition the clients[1] to. The Department is seeking to purchase a Service that prioritises the needs and best interests of these clients who may otherwise be displaced and return to homelessness, providing stability and safety. The purchasing of this service for these clients offers a crucial interim[2] solution. The facility proposed as part of this Request will contribute to addressing the need for safe and secure accommodation options for this cohort of clients. [1] The use of the term ‘client’ within this Request means the same as the defined term ‘Service User’ as per clause 1.1 of General Provisions for the Purchase of Community Services by State Agencies July 2024 Edition. [2] Interim refers to a person-centred timeframe to ensure length of supported accommodation corresponds to the needs of the individual person. This service is not a long-term housing option.
