The Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) Medical Imaging Department requires technetium-99m to be used as the preferred radiotracer for a number of scans. Technetium-99m is extracted from molybdenum-99 (the ‘parent’ radioisotope) contained in the Gentech Generator at the Hospital. The Gentech Generator is produced at ANSTO Lucas Heights campus in Sydney using Australia’s only nuclear reactor OPAL.RDH needs a weekly delivery of a Gentech Generator to perform the scheduled nuclear medicine procedures. The contract period is 36 months with two extensions of 12 months possible.
