PUBLIC RECORD

Due to recent mining activity in Tennant Creek, local road network is experiencing higher volume of heavy vehicles including road trains. The existing Stuart Highway, Warrego Road and Kaczinsky Road intersection is currently priority control four leg intersection. The intersection also does not have auxiliary (turning) lanes and existing pavement is also deteriorating. The rising triple road trains numbers using this intersection requires its upgrade to current design and safety standards. In addition, a long term solution to realign either of the side local roads will be investigated. The scope of works includes;• Short term option - Design turning lanes at the existing intersection to facilitate left turn into Stuart Hwy and right turn into Kaczinsky Road.• Long term option - concept development to realign either of Warrego or Kaczinsky Rd with assessment of environmental, cultural and land tenure issues.
