The section of road between Ch 598 and Ch 600 is built over an unstable soil profile and requires reconstruction of the existing road formation to improve the continuity of the carriageway pavement and to enhance the durability of the formation. This section of road will require strengthening of the subgrade and widening to accommodate a standard single carriageway formation. Where existing carriageway width is less than 10 metres, rehabilitation will require widening to 11 metre carriageway with 2 traffic lanes of 3.5 metres each and 8 metre seal and necessary drainage improvements.
