Clinical Incident Management System (CIMS) Background information: Clinical incident and complaints management are critical components of clinical governance. Currently Datix Web allows the Department of Health to monitor and manage patient safety including healthcare acquired infections, medication incidents, falls and clinical deterioration including mental health deterioration. All of these are critical mandatory components of Health Service Accreditation Scheme as required by the National Health Reform Agreement with the Commonwealth. The WA Health system has used the Datix Web patient safety application since 2014. The Datix CIMS and CFM modules are critical components of patient safety and clinical governance in the WA Health system. The CIMS project is for the lifecycle replacement of the current Datix CIMS/CFM system with a more contemporary patient safety and quality improvement application. The current Datix CIMS/CFM is a web-based enterprise platform for reporting and managing clinical incidents and consumer feedback – the Datix CIMS/CFM are part of a suite of applications referred to by the vendor as ‘Datix Web.’ The replacement system being offered as a solution by the vendor RLDatix will be delivered as a cloud-based software-as-a service (SaaS) model – referred to as DatixCloudIQ (DCIQ).
