Power and Water Corporation (Power and Water) operate the Darwin region water supply to provide drinking water to approximately 150,000 people. The water is sourced from Darwin River Dam (DRD) and the McMinns/Howard East Borefield.Construction is currently underway on a new pump station at DRD which will take pumping capacity from an approximate current flow rate of 2,150 L/s to 3,400 L/s. A condition assessment report of the existing chlorination system has identified that a new chlorine dosing facility is required. The new facility will be constructed adjacent to the existing pump station site. This project is for the construction of a new building pad and access road for the proposed stand-alone chlorination facility.
