# Human Rights Advocacy Grant Program The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is offering the Human Rights Advocacy Grant Program (Category: 371003 - Overseas Advocacy) to support a diverse range of organizations in advancing Australia's human rights priorities globally and within the Indo-Pacific region. This non-competitive, closed grant program targets globally recognized and trusted partner organizations capable of agile and efficient delivery on Australia's multilateral human rights commitments. ## 🎯 **Purpose and Activities** This program supports various advocacy activities promoting and protecting human rights, including: * Training and capacity building * Thematic, legislative, policy, and expert advice * Awareness raising * Research, advocacy, and reporting on human rights matters * Universal Periodic Review (UPR) technical assistance and capacity-building * Increasing engagement of Indo-Pacific partners in the multilateral system. ## 👥 **Eligibility Criteria** DFAT will directly invite eligible organizations to submit applications. Invited applicants may include: * Well-established and registered domestic/international civil society/non-government organizations (NGOs) * Research, think tank, or university organizations * UN and non-UN multilateral organizations (e.g., international NGOs) * Partner governments whose work aligns with Australia’s multilateral human rights priorities. Ineligible applicants include: * Organizations on the National Redress Scheme's 'Institutions that have not joined or signified their intent to join the Scheme' list * Commonwealth, state, territory, or local government agencies/bodies (including government business enterprises) * Individuals. ## 📝 **Application and Funding** This is a closed non-competitive grant. DFAT will directly approach potential applicants via email with application invitations. Applications will be accepted and assessed on a rolling basis throughout the program's lifecycle.
