Summary and scope

The Australian Government is inviting Volunteering Australia via a restricted process to apply to deliver services under the Family and Communities Program, Volunteer Management Activity nationally from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2031. The grant will contribute to Program 2.1.6: Volunteering and Community Connectedness under DSS Outcome 2 by funding a nationally coordinated model led by Volunteering Australia, supported by state and territory peak bodies, and targeted legal and capacity-building services. The grant opportunity is intended to strengthen community connectedness, improve inclusion and accessibility in volunteering. Funding will support the delivery of training, resources, tools, information and advisory services for volunteers and Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs), as well as targeted legal and capacity-building assistance. The activity will also support improved volunteer management practices, increased participation in volunteering, and greater inclusion and accessibility for diverse communities. The VMA aligns with the National Strategy for Volunteering 2023–2033 and aims to strengthen community connectedness, build organisational capability, and create a volunteering ecosystem that is responsive to the changing needs of volunteers, organisations and communities.
