Summary and scope
The Queensland Department of Education invites eligible not-for-profit or local government early childhood education and care (ECEC) Approved Providers or Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO) with a current Provider Approval, to apply to lease and operate new long day care services. These facilities will be funded through the Australian Government’s Building Early Education Fund as part of a joint Queensland and Australian Government initiative to support access to ECEC services in areas of need.Organisation/s may apply to lease and operate long day care services at one or more of the following locations:• Rosewood State School (co-located with the school)• Yarrabilba State School (co-located with the school)• Chinchilla (located on vacant Department of Education land at 28 Sheriff Street, Chinchilla)• Yorkeys Knob State School (co-located with the school).The Department is seeking to appoint ECEC providers in 2026 to co-design the new facilities and to collaborate with the local community to ensure services meet the needs of families. Construction is expected to commence in late-2027 with completion planned for mid-2028.
