Summary and scope
The Australian Government represented by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department) is inviting expressions of interest from eligible surface water right owners in selected northern Basin catchments, indicating their willingness to sell some or all of those water rights to the Australian Government on a permanent basis. Certain surface water types in the following northern Basin catchments are included: • New South Wales (NSW) – Intersecting Streams, Gwydir, Namoi, Macquarie-Castlereagh, Barwon-Darling, NSW Border Rivers • Queensland (Qld) – Condamine-Balonne, Qld Border Rivers. The specific water types included for each catchment are set out in detail in clause 2.3 of the EOI.
