🌊 Sediment Monitoring Program for Maugean Skate Habitat The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a qualified supplier to design and implement a comprehensive Sediment Monitoring Project in Macquarie Harbour. This initiative is critical for understanding the environmental conditions impacting the endangered Maugean skate. 📋 Project Scope & Objectives The successful bidder will be responsible for: Sediment Analysis: Quantifying sediment oxygen demand and characterizing sulphur cycling processes. Bathymetric Mapping: Updating bathymetric data for dynamic areas of Macquarie Harbour using modern multibeam technology. Prey Monitoring: Developing methods to monitor the distribution and biomass of key prey species for the Maugean skate. Data Consolidation: Updating and integrating environmental datasets from the last three years. 🛠Delivery Stages Design Stage: Stakeholder engagement, methodology development, and gap analysis. Implementation Stage: Operationalizing the methodology, conducting field sampling, laboratory analysis, and final reporting. 🎯 Key Requirements Must be an Australian-based entity. Proven expertise in marine/estuarine monitoring methodologies. Demonstrated experience in designing sampling frameworks for sediment oxygen demand analysis. This project will run over a 20-month period and must complement existing efforts under the Oxygenation Offset Program.
