Summary and scope

14/7/2026 11:00 AM AET The Council of the City of Sydney ("the City") invites tenders for the design, installation and de-installation of a Chinatown Decorative Installation in accordance with this Request for Tender. Sydney Lunar Festival has grown to become one of the largest celebrations of the Lunar New Year outside of Asia. The festival started in 1995 as a community street market and has developed to include the opening event Sydney Lunar Streets, an extensive community performance program and over 70 associated events. With this in mind, the City seeks Service Provider to design, manufacture, install and de-install a Chinatown Decorative Installation in Dixon Street for the 2027 Sydney Lunar Festival; with two options to re-stage for the 2028 and further 2029 events, as outlined in the specification, and in accordance with the Key Dates. The Chinatown Decorative Installation will be exhibited outdoors for approximately three weeks during each Event period. Refer to Part B Specification and Performance for further details. Tenderers must submit their response in the manner required by this document. The City is committed to creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses. The City encourages First Nations owned and operated businesses, Local SME, Start-ups as well as social enterprises (including Cooperatives) to work with us and respond to this opportunity.
