Summary and scope
Shared Energy Storage is a $17.8 million co-funded initiative between the Government of South Australia and the Federal Government that will incentivise and support the deployment of shared solar and battery systems for households in strata-governed apartment buildings. Energy splitting technology will ensure that apartment renters and owners will receive equal allocations of solar energy. The initiative aims to:deliver savings to priority households living in apartments;ensure no one is left behind in South Australia’s renewable energy transition; andsupport South Australia’s evolving electricity grid, ensuring that energy generation is matched with storage. Strata groups will have access to up to $95,000 in value, with up to 50% funded by an upfront discount (grant) and the remaining 50% funded by a zero-interest loan.
