Summary and scope
Gippsland Water (GW) owns and operates a Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) system that supports our operational remote sites and mobile vehicle voice and emergency communications. It is used to reduce Gippsland Water’s risk associated with staff working remotely or in isolation, including during incidents and emergencies. The current system’s GPS tracking technology is used to ensure that office staff can locate site staff in the event of an emergency. As the core base station equipment is aging, and four base stations are no longer supported by the manufacturer, we are seeking a suitable replacement solution. The handheld and portable radios are reasonably current, and it is envisaged that they be utilised as part of the replacement solution.
