Summary and scope

The AMC is the ACT’s only correctional facility accommodating detainees across minimum to maximum security classifications. As part of ACTCS’ commitment to detainee health, wellbeing, and rehabilitation, the Detainee Services Unit is currently delivering Boot Camp Training Courses to detainees under a Purchase Order arrangement. These courses are facilitated by a suitably qualified Boot Camp instructor and focus on structured physical fitness training, discipline, and personal development. The program aims to improve physical health, build resilience, and foster positive behavioural change among participants. In addition to fitness instruction, detainees receive guidance on maintaining healthy lifestyles and developing routines that support mental and emotional wellbeing.Continued delivery of Boot Camp Training Courses is essential to providing a diverse range of rehabilitative services at the AMC. The program contributes to improved detainee engagement, supports reintegration efforts, and aligns with ACTCS’ strategic objectives in promoting safer custodial environments and reducing recidivism.
