RFT2018-24 South Hedland Landfill Excavation & Profiling Works (Earthmoving Project)

Summary and scope

South Hedland Landfill facility (L6917/1997/8) is a commercial landfill owned and operated by the Town of Port Hedland. The landfill is located at the end of North Circular Road in the Town of Port Hedland. The landfill is a class II or III Putrescible waste landfill. The Town of Port Hedland is requesting a suitably qualified Contractor to excavate and profile legacy landfill material in the North Eastern section of the South Hedland Landfill Facility. The works is required to make compliant current boundary over lapses in relation to the sites landfill license. The work will involve excavating approximately 15,000 cubic metres of legacy-landfilled areas that are in excess of 5 years old. The contractor will be required to excavate this material and use the excess material to profile the excavated areas in line with both our licensing and best practice landfill closure requirements. Additional excess material will be required to be relocated into identified landfill cells.
