Summary and scope
Carpentaria Shire is locacated on the Gulf of Carpentaria approximately 700km west of Cairns and covers an area of approximately 65,000 square kilometers with its adminstative and commeciral centre located in Normanton. The Normanton Waste Water Sewage Lagoon is located along the Karumba Pipeline Road approximately 3.8km from Normanton and treats the Township’s wastewater. Council proposes to engage a contractor to desilt the two (2) facultative ponds and dewater the sludge via centrifuge or equivalent method. The contractor will also be engaged to dredge and desilt the corners of the Secondary Pond and Disinfection Pond and de water via centrifuge or equivalent method. The contractor is to transport all dewatered solid waste to the active cell located at the Normanton landfill, located approximately 2.5km south-west of Normanton.
