Summary and scope
Open space is an important part of everyday life for residents, workers and visitors of Greater Dandenong. Open space can include sporting grounds, playgrounds, bushland, wetlands, streetscapes, public squares and walking & cycling trails. Council is committed to providing an open space network that meets the needs of our current residents and visitors while planning for future generations. Open space makes up around 5.3% of land within the municipality of Greater Dandenong (approx. 700 hectares). This includes over 300 Open space sites and more than 100 playgrounds across the municipality. Council utilises a combination approach of in-house staff, consultants and contractors to maintain and manage these Parks & Open Space assets. The intent of this contract is to engage a panel of contractors that are capable of undertaking prescribed works in both a package of works scenario and ad-hoc works orders applying a schedule of rates option as outlined in the attached schedules and appendices. Contractors will assist Council predominantly with the maintenance of parks and open space assets throughout the municipality.
