Summary and scope
This project involves the replacement of approximately 320m of the existing DN100 unlined cast iron water mans along Cogan St, Gympie. The proposed alignment is on the western side of the street joining Tozer Park Road with Station Road. The unlined cast iron pipes are subject to internal ferrous corrosion in the form of tuberculation. This reduces the internal diameter, lowers the water pressure and weakens the outside wall of the pipe. In addition to this, severe tuberculation of the pipes can also reduce the quality of the water delivered to customers. Replacement of this old corroded pipe reduces the risk of pipe failure in the area as well as improving the quality and pressure of the water flows between Tozer Park Rd and Station St. The Contract involves the design and construction of a new DN150 PVC water main along the length of Cogan St and includes the provision of new service connections.
