Summary and scope

Maranoa Regional Council invites application from suppliers wishing to undertake remedial works for unsightly allotments within the Maranoa Region. Suppliers are required to undergo training to be appointed with the appropriate Local Government Worker authorisation to carry out this activity. The purpose of the Local Government Worker appointed through this process is to be trained and authorised under the Local Government Act 2009 (the Act) to lawfully enter an allotment to remove or relocate items/objects that have been brought on to or allowed to accumulate on the allotment. This would include removing and disposing of unused or inoperable items such as: general domestic and green waste all broken, inoperable, disused or severely rusted or rotted items i.e. furniture, electronic appliances (including whitegoods), bottles, containers, packaging, building and construction materials, broken down or inoperable vehicles and or parts and equipment. For operable items or items of value - storing or relocating to an existing structure on site or if not possible removal and disposal of such items. This type of work is only required should the responsible person of an allotment, not take the relevant action under the Act to bring it to a compliant state, in the required timeframe. In this situation, Council will engage the relevant qualified supplier (Local Government Worker) to undertake the work on their behalf. Council will fund the cost of the work, in turn seeking to recover the cost from the responsible person or landowner.
