Summary and scope
Lockyer Valley Regional Council (LVRC) owns and operates the Gatton Landfill & Transfer Station located at 32 Treatment Plant Road, Gatton (accessed from Fords Rd). The site is licensed by the Department of Environment & Science (DES) to accept municipal waste (domestic/household, commercial & industrial, construction & demolition waste) under the Environmental Authority (EA) EPPR00620313 Construction of the current active landfill Cell 4 began in January 2017, with disposal of waste commencing in April 2017. The liner system used in Cell 4 is connected to the Cell 3 liner and comprises of a composite of compacted engineering fill, clay fill, Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL), protection geotextile layer, drainage aggregate and a separation geotextile layer. Landfill airspace assessments are undertaken annually to confirm air space consumed for planning the timing of future cells. The interim landform for Cell 4 waste is anticipated to be reached in 2023 and therefore design for Cell 5 has been completed to inform construction. Cell 5 will create a new lined landfill cell connected to Cell 4 for the ongoing placement of municipal solid waste. This Request for Tender (RFT) is to engage the market on behalf of LVRC seeking Tenders for the construction of Cell 5. The Contractor will be required to safely perform the duties to the satisfaction of the Superintendent as outlined within the Request for Tender (RFT) and Technical Specifications as attached. For further information and response requirements, please refer to the documents attached to this Request for Tender (RFT).
