Summary and scope

Nillumbik Shire Council is seeking submissions from suitably qualified consultants to review and report on the Shire of Nillumbik’s biodiversity and urban canopy data and policy landscape and prepare a draft Biodiversity Strategy. The scope of works includes: a. Regular engagement with Council officers and Councillors b. Report on available data on biodiversity (tree canopy, flora, fauna, ecosystems, habitat corridors etc.) and threats to biodiversity in Nillumbik c. Review of biodiversity-related planning matters and legislative and policy requirements, as they apply to Nillumbik. Make recommendations as to the most appropriate tools (planning controls or other) to help achieve Council’s biodiversity objectives. d. Investigate and make recommendations on wildlife protection options; and native vegetation offset site options. e. Undertake Phase 1 community engagement to ascertain community views and priorities in terms of supporting biodiversity. f. Draft a new ten-year Nillumbik Biodiversity Strategy for consideration by Council. The indicative budget is $150,000. The intended contract commencement date is 1 March 2023 with an intended completion date of 30 June 2024
