Summary and scope
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is the owner of the Cressbrook Dam. The Dam Safety Conditions Schedule issued by the Department of Resources (formerly Department of Natural Resources, Mines & Energy) for the Cressbrook Dam requires that TRC as the owner of the dam, undertake appropriate works to meet the requirements of the Guidelines of Acceptable Flood Capacity (AFC) for Dams (ANCOLD 2000). TRC is required to undertake and complete minimum safety upgrades to address AFC requirements by 1 October 2025. TRC’s investigations to date indicate that the requirements will entail a significant upgrade to the dam’s spillway, dam filters and dam crest, amongst other works (the Project). The purpose of the Project is to deliver the Cressbrook Dam spillway upgrade (and any other works required) to satisfy the dam safety conditions and meet the requirements of ANCOLD 2000.
