Summary and scope

The ‘Moranbah Waste Management Facility (WMF) Construction of Lined Landfill Cell #2’ project, is for the construction of a new engineered lined landfill cell at the Moranbah Waste Management Facility, providing an additional adjoined lined cell to the east of the existing lined cell, which was constructed in 2017 and now nearing the end of its usable life. The new lined cell will provide a continued waste disposal facility for the local Isaac Regional Council (IRC) residents and businesses into the future. The Project is located at Thorpe Street Moranbah, with a property description of Lot 24 SP158749. The property is designated as Reserve tenure, with the current land use being the Moranbah Waste Management Facility. The site is located adjacent to an industrial area, west of the Moranbah township. The site is bounded by Goonyella Road to the north. Land to the west of the site consists of a range of industrial activities. Land to the east and south of the site is recreational, with land uses to east and southeast including the moto-x club, speedway, racecourse, and pistol club. Land to the south is predominantly vacant and/or vegetated land.
