Summary and scope
Gympie Regional Council’s (GRC) Goomeri Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has six existing multimedia sand filters over 20 years old and an existing Biological Activated Carbon (BAC) filter which are used to process approximately 200kL of potable water per day for the town. Since 2019 the filters have undergone two media replacement exercises which have not improved the plants efficiency or ability to treat surface water. Recent investigations have revealed contaminated media within the six sand filters, significantly hindering their ability to operate effectively. In addition, media deposits have been found in equipment downstream of the filters. It is essential that Goomeri WTP has capacity to utilise the surface water from Kinbombi Dams and as such that the multimedia filters are functioning to a sufficiently high degree. The purpose of this Request for Tender (RFT) is to appoint a suitably qualified Contractor to carry out a Design & Construct Contract (AS 4902-2000) for the supply and installation of new multimedia filters, a new BAC filter and the provision of a suitably sized backwash tank.
