Summary and scope

The Town of Port Hedland is seeking the services of a suitably experienced contractor to undertake minor asphalt pavement repairs to its road network in the following areas. • Port Hedland inclusive of Cooke Point & Pretty Pool • South Hedland (All cells) • Wedgefield • Redbank • South Hedland Rural Estate (Bosna) • Turner River Rural Estate • Kingsford Smith Business Park Examples of minor asphalt pavement defects and associated works include but are not limited to • Pavement defects such as potholes and failed patches • Shoulder edge breaks • Spray seal treatments on all pavement repairs • Erosion repairs • Line marking reinstatement Please note • This is a separate program to the Towns Annual Capital Works Reseal program. These Works involve minor repair of asphalt pavement surface defects only. • This Works shall often be reactive in nature so the successful contractor shall be required to be available to mobilise with short timeframes and for various sized defects. • In all cases, priority shall be given to hazards such as potholes first, unless otherwise directed by the Principal. • Due to the potential for impact to traffic flow, night works may also be required however approval shall be obtained from the Principal and the applicable authority in advance of undertaking such works. In most instances a semi-permanent repair to surface defects may suffice, with permanent repairs to be scheduled in at a later date. This is to ensure that impact to traffic and the need for traffic management is minimised, but the hazard is still removed. The Town recognises that some roads may contain multiple defects, such roads may be scheduled for major upgrades and therefore may not be included in the scope of these Works unless otherwise directed by the Principal.
