Summary and scope

The premier gravity trunk sewers servicing the Toowoomba city is a DN 675 trunk sewer constructed in 1960, and a DN 900 trunk sewer constructed in 1990. Both gravity trunk sewers flow into the Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) for treatment through the DN 1200 Gowrie Creek Trunk Sewer. The North Toowoomba Sewerage Catchment Study Planning Report October 2020 has called for the upgrade of the existing DN 675 Trunk Sewer between Lot 1 on RP142669, and Griffith Street in Canley Qld, and for the duplication of the DN 1200 Gowrie Creek Trunk Sewer flowing in the Wetalla WRF. These upgrades are required to meet future network capacity demands, provide network redundancy, and to replace existing infrastructure in poor condition. The DN 1200 Gowrie Creek Trunk Sewer Duplications, and parts of the DN 675 trunk sewer replacement works have been completed as part of previous projects. The Gowrie Creek Trunk Sewer Upgrade Project Stage 2 represents the ultimate and final stage of the DN 675 replacement works. This project was assessed as a major tier project under Councils PMF.
