Summary and scope
FORWARD PROCUREMENT NOTICE ONLY - NOT A TENDER. The Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support will be releasing a Request for Quote for a First Nations-led supplier to deliver the Neuro Ability Support Service (NASS) response in Cairns. NASS is funded under the Queensland Health’s Better Care Together strategy. Indicative Procurement Dates Request for Quote release date: January 2025 Geographic Catchment area: Cairns Youth Justice Service Centre catchment area Service Requirements The NASS Cairns needs to be a culturally responsive service that will work with young people with suspected or diagnosed neurodevelopment disabilities who are in the youth justice system and their families to support the young person’s access to appropriate services (including diagnostic services) to address their disability needs, particularly those disability needs that may contribute to their risk of reoffending. The aim of the service is to improve service responses for young people with suspected or diagnosed neurodevelopmental disability, identified through contact with services including early action groups, court, police and youth justice. Referrals will primarily come from Cairns Youth Justice Service Centre. Youth Justice defines neurodiversity as encompassed by the term ‘neurodevelopmental disabilities’ and includes intellectual disabilities; autism spectrum disorder (ASD), fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), acquired brain injury, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Target Group The priority cohort for this service are 13-17 year olds who may have suspected or diagnosed neurodevelopment disabilities that are in the youth justice system. The service will also provide support to the family, kin or primary carer to better understand the diagnosis, treatment and supports required. Service Operating Hours Hours of operation must align with the needs of the young people with after-hours engagement (late evening/early morning) as required by the Service Users. May also include weekends and public holidays. Tendering The tender process will be conducted through the Queensland Government VendorPanel Marketplace website.
