Summary and scope

Sunshine Coast Council is seeking to trial a late-night transport service to support the ongoing activation of businesses associated with Nambour’s Special Entertainment Precinct. Council has identified Nambour as a Special Entertainment Precinct and seeks to work with community and business groups to support the late-night activation of Nambour to attract public and private investment. Council is seeking an experienced provider to deliver a late-night transport service trial for the Nambour region. Services will operate between 8.00pm to midnight, on Friday and Saturday nights. Council’s preference is for an on-demand transport service; however a demand responsive transport service might be considered. This is a six-month contract with the option to extend for a six-month period, at the sole discretion of Council. The contract is anticipated to commence in mid-December 2025 and conclude in mid-June 2026. Council will only fulfill the role of the contracting entity during the trial period of this contract. If the trial is successful, a new service contract with a longer term and potentially different terms will be required. It is expected that the new contracting entity will enter into a new transport service contract with the service provider on terms substantially similar to those under Council’s existing contract. However, the new contract may incorporate amendments informed by insights gained during Council’s trial period.
