Summary and scope
Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) prequalified contractors, consultants for engineering projects and industry partners are invited to attend a Market Sounding and Information Share for the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) for projects within Far North district (FND).FND is home to approximately 280,000+ people and covers an area of about 273,158 square kilometres, or around 15% of Queensland. Centred around the city of Cairns, extending from the Torres Strait Islands in the north to the top of the Cardwell Range in the south, and from Cairns in the east to Croydon in the west.Our district is home to World Heritage Sites including the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics of Queensland and is home to the two oldest continuous cultures on the planet, the Aboriginal Australians and the Torres Strait Islanders and as such, is the only district in Queensland to work within both the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act (2003) and the Torres Strait Islander Cultural Heritage Act (2003).Far North Queensland supports a significant cultural sector, flourishing tourism industry, regional mining precincts, renewable energy developments as well as many national park areas.This industry briefing will provide industry with a broad understanding of the challenges and scope for our future QTRIP program of works, the type of skills required, procurement delivery strategies, the likely budgets available and the timing of the work entering the market, of interest to both contractors, consultants and our supply chain partners.FND QTRIP includes projects such as the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program, Kuranda Range Safety & Resilience Upgrade, Cairns Western Arterial Road Duplication and Cape York Region Package together with key investment in project planning.The FND industry briefing is being held on Friday, 27 March 2026, between 1:15pm and 2:15pm via Teams.For a teams invitation email FNDistrictDirector@tmr.qld.gov.au by 2pm Tuesday 24th March 2026 and interested parties will receive invite to attend.A limit of two invites per company may attend the event.
