Summary and scope

The City of Greater Dandenong has approximately 70ha of natural turf sportsgrounds. These assets are maintained to agreed service levels, providing the community and sport clubs with high quality playing surfaces all year round.Council’s holistic turf management program ensures community sportsgrounds are presented in a safe manner, resistant to wear and free from pests and diseases. Council’s key objective is to introduce a sustainable and environmentally responsible turf maintenance program which minimises the impact agricultural chemicals have on our environment, while also reducing chemical toxicity through responsible product selection. This approach is paramount when managing public open spaces and will be at the forefront of the panel when evaluating submissions. Maximising usage levels across natural turf surfaces is important during a period of recreational growth at community level.Council seeks to implement a premium, integrated turf management program across sportsground assets.
