π Community Sharps Collection Program Tender Ballina Shire Council is inviting submissions from qualified service providers for the Community Sharps Bin Collection and Disposal program (Reference: BSC5078). This initiative aims to mitigate sharps littering and improper waste disposal by managing a collection network across nine participating pharmacies within the Ballina Shire region. π Scope of Work Successful bidders will be responsible for: Bin Exchange: Replacing in-store sharps storage bins with clean, empty units on a quarterly (3-month) cycle. Waste Transport: Collecting containerised sharps waste from host pharmacies. Compliant Disposal: Transporting and disposing of waste at a licensed clinical waste facility. π Key Requirements Providers must demonstrate experience in handling hazardous clinical waste. The contract focuses on the supply and management of storage bins; individual sharps containers are managed separately by pharmacies or the public. Alternative storage unit sizes may be proposed, provided they accommodate the required 3-month collection capacity. π Location & Context Services are required within the Ballina Shire, New South Wales. This program is a vital component of the Council's environmental and public health strategy, operating in partnership with local pharmacies to ensure safe disposal of self-administered domestic sharps.
