Summary and scope
The Northern Peninsular Area Regional Council is seeking proposals from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to carry out works to expand the capacity of the Sewer Treatment Ponds in Bamaga. Concept designs are attached. NPARC will accept variation to these designs. The work involves the increase in size of the 2 primary lagoons and the addition of a 3rd secondary lagoon.Other works include: New interconnecting pipework and valves; new bypass pipelines, relocation of a rising main, relocation of electrical wires, fencing and landscaping works. The current STP must be able to operate for as long as possible during the construction works. In addition, the contractor will provide an improved screening and grit removal system at the inlet to the STP. The design and type of these systems has not been specified and therefore the Contractor can propose the most cost effective system, with a focus on total life-cycle costs. There is some desludging work required in the existing ponds. That work can be delivered as a variation, using unit rates.
