Project overview: Theodore Energy Development, a subsidiary of RWE Renewables, has received state planning approval for a large-scale renewable energy project near Theodore in Banana Shire, Central Queensland. The project includes:Up to 170 wind turbinesBattery storage facilityIt will generate enough electricity to power approximately 500,000 Queensland homes.Construction is expected to take up to four years, employing up to 500 workers at peak times, with a strong focus on hiring regional Queensland businesses and workers.Economic benefits include:Opportunities for Queensland businesses and individuals to supply goods and/or servicesA Sponsorship Fund that has distributed more than $160,000 to the local community so farA Community Benefit Program that will begin during construction and continue throughout the wind farm's operational life, incorporating a Community Benefit Fund of at least $500,000 annually ($17.5 million over the wind farm's operational life).EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)RWE encourages local industry interested in supplying goods and services to the project to provide a Expression of interest (EOI) through the ICN Gateway.
