Project: The Wave (Rail) Stage 1 Brownfield Package Project owner: Department of Transport and Main Roads Location: QLD Australia Work package status: Open Scope: Full Scope Work package description: ICN hereby invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from respective trade contractors and suppliers for the Wave (Rail) Stage 1 Brownfield Package project. All EOI submissions should be made through the Gateway by ICN. Project overview: Beerwah Coast Connect, an Alliance comprising Laing O'Rourke, Hatch and Georgiou will deliver the Stage 1 Brownfield Package.The Brownfield Package comprises upgrades and new works to existing rail, station, road, and associated infrastructure at Beerwah and surrounding area, supporting The Wave rail connection and integration with the existing North Coast Line.The Wave will deliver a new passenger rail line and metro style service, connecting Sunshine Coast communities between Beerwah, Caloundra, Birtinya, Maroochydore and the Sunshine Coast Airport - linking to Moreton Bay, Brisbane and beyond. The Queensland Government, acting through the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), is responsible for delivering The Wave project. Stage 1 of The Wave is jointly funded by the Queensland and Australian Governments.Stages 1 and 2 of The Wave will be delivered as a program of construction works for an approximately 26 kilometre dual-track rail line between Beerwah and Birtinya, with an upgrade/rebuild of Beerwah station and four (4) new stations to connect emerging population centres, including in Bells Creek (Aura), Caloundra, Aroona, Birtinya. The Wave Project also includes delivery of the European Train Control System Level 2 (ETCS Level 2) signalling across the entire rail alignment.Rail and Station Works Upgrade of Beerwah Station to meet modern accessibility standards and comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, including:Construction of a new third platformReplacement of existing signallingVertical access between platforms and station precincts to the east and westUpgraded station facilities, including ticketing facilities, public amenities, CCTV, and lightingSecure bicycle and scooter storage facilitiesTrack WorksModification of approximately 4 km of existing track and rail infrastructure at and around Beerwah StationProvision of a new freight holding road between Beerwah and LandsboroughTie-in with the Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Stage 1 duplication to the southAllowance for future gradeseparated junction works north of the stationNew Rail InfrastructureConstruction of a new gradeseparated rail junction immediately north of Beerwah Station to facilitate the Direct Sunshine Coast Line, including grade separation of Steve Irwin WayConstruction of a new stabling facility (Beerwah South Yard) south of Beerwah Station for the Direct Sunshine Coast LineRoad, Transport, and Precinct WorksRoadworks and modifications to existing roads and signalised intersections within the station precinctNew and upgraded active transport linksBus interchange facilities, kiss-and-ride areas, and expanded park-and-ride facilitiesMinor road realignments within the station precinctUtilities and Ancillary WorksPublic Utility Plant (PUP) relocation, protection, and new installationsDrainage works, earthworks, retaining structures, demolition, and management of waste and contaminated materialsLandscaping and urban realm works within and around the station precinctTemporary works required to facilitate construction.Construction is expected to commence in 2027.Beerwah Coast Connect strongly encourages suppliers to contact ICN in the first instance to gain an understanding of the EOI process and work packages.Suppliers are also encouraged to complete Stage 1 and the registration on Beerwah Coast Connect Felix - Enterprise Marketplace Platform
