Project: Level Crossing Removal Project Project owner: DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT AND PLANNING Location: VIC Australia Work package status: Open Scope: Full Scope Work package description: Capable, competent & qualified Australian suppliers who can support the Victorian Department of Economic Development, Jobs and Employment achieving their target of 100 per cent locally milled steel products are encouraged to submit an initial EOI via the 'Melbourne LXRA Steel Supplier - Information Update' work package. Project overview: Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP)The project will remove 110 level crossings by 2030, with 85 already gone for good, improving safety and reducing congestion across Melbourne.Detailed information can be found at the Level Crossing Removal Project website.ICN Victoria is supporting the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) with Industry Engagement by providing the Supply Chain with regular updates and information on the status of the current works.Current WorksSouth Eastern Program Alliance (SEPA)Consisting of - Laing O'Rourke, Jacobs, Metro Trains Melbourne and LXRP.Coolstore Road, CroydonRemoval of one (1) level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road, a new Croydon Station and a new transport hub.Dublin Road, Ringwood EastRemoval of one (1) level crossing by lowering the rail line under road and building a new Ringwood East Station.Bedford Road, RingwoodRemoval of one (1) level crossing by lowering the rail line under the road.North Western Program Alliance (NWPA)Consisting of - John Holland, Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), Metro Trains Melbourne and LXRP.Coburns and Exford roads, MeltonRemoval of two (2) level crossings by elevating the rail line over the roads, and building a new Melton Station.The level crossings are due to be removed in 2026.Webster Street, Dandenong SouthRemoval of one (1) level crossing by closing Webster Street at the level crossing and building a new road under the rail line, connecting Princes-Highway-Lonsdale Street to Cheltenham and Hammond roads.The level crossing is due to be removed in 2026.Western Program Alliance (WPA)Consisting of McConnell Dowell, Arup, Mott MacDonald, Metro Trains Melbourne and LXRP.Ballarat Station UpgradeUpgrading Ballarat Station to improve accessibility, safety and connectivity for public transport users by building an accessible pedestrian overpass, with a passenger lift and stairs on each platform.Construction is due to be completed in 2026.West Tarneit StationBuilding a new station in Tarneit's west, located near the corner of Leakes and Davis roads.Construction is due to be completed in 2026.Old Calder Highway and Watsons Roads, Diggers RestRemoval of two (2) level crossings by building road bridges at Old Calder Highway and Watsons Road.The level crossings are due to be removed in 2025.Southern Program Alliance (SPA)Consisting of Lendlease, ACCIONA/Coleman Rail, WSP, Metro Trains Melbourne and LXRP.Champion and Maddox roads, NewportGetting rid of two (2) level crossings by building rail bridges over Maddox Road and closing Champion Road.
