Summary and scope

Provide Independent Advice regarding investments: Provide Independent advice regarding selection of investments which best suit Council’s overall objective of maximising returns within the constraints of its Investment Policy and legislation under which it operates. It is expected that this advice will be • Proactive – where the appointed advisor selects suitable products for Council’s consideration from a detailed, ongoing assessment of the market of available investments. • Constant – the advisor has detailed knowledge of the risk and return attributes of all items within Council’s investment portfolio as compared to alternative investments available and will advise continuously, as market conditions change, on adjustments required to best meet Council’s objectives. • Reactive – where the advisor reports on prospective investments that Council refers. Independent Advice – The advisor must be independent and must confirm in writing that they have no actual or potential conflict of interest in relation to investment products being recommended and is free to choose the most appropriate product within the terms and conditions of investment policy. This includes receiving no commissions or other benefits in relation to the investments being recommended or reviewed, and having no involvement in the structuring or distribution. All remuneration received from investments must be rebated to Council in full.
