Summary and scope

Due to the heavy rainfall and cyclone events associated with “North and Far North Queensland Monsoon Trough” and “Severe Tropical Cyclone Trevor and associated low pressure system” during January to March 2019 has caused a rotation “slump” failure in the embankment along the Port Stewart range section and undermining of pavement sections. Cook Shire Council has engaged geotechnical and civil engineers to carryout testing and prepare a detailed design for the remediation and repair of the landslip. The project involves the excavation of failed scarp to weathered rock, reconstruction of the embankment with rock fill and reconstruction of failed sections of road pavement. Cook Shire Council is pleased to release the construction of this project to public tender and provides this tender package which outlines the Contract, Scope of Works and Response Schedules required for submission. Council seeks the services of a construction service entity with the prerequisite skills, resources, capabilities and experience in slope stabilisation works to deliver the required reconstruction and repair works to the failed slopes. The successful Tenderer will be required to enter into a formal instrument of agreement as per the Contract attached in Part 4. It is Council’s intention to deliver this proposed project in the 2020 works seasons (May to November 2020).
