Summary and scope

The footpaths along the Kingsway have significantly deteriorated over the years with general wear and installation of new services and ad hoc repairs. The Kingsway upgrade is part of the overall Cronulla Town Centre upgrade which will improve the usability, amenity and accessibility overall, The specific purpose of the Kingsway works is to upgrade the footpaths, enhance public amenity, improve pedestrian and vehicle lighting, and provide planting with a long term future. Council are seeking tenders from suitably qualified civil contractors who are Transport for NSW (TfNSW) accredited to undertake the works. TfNSW accreditation particularly for Civil and TCS must be included in the tender submission. The Works for this contract shall include, but not be limited to the list below. All works are to be in accordance with drawings, specifications and reports in Appendices A –J. Further information can also be found in the Annexure A - Application of Dissection of Tender Price. Items not directly in the Dissection of Tender Price and well as items that are can be found in the Schedule of Rates also in Annexure A. This Schedule of Rates must be filled out by the Tenderer and tenders not including the completed schedule will not be considered. Where reference in the plans and specifications is made to the Sutherland Council PDTM (Public Domain Technical Manual) this can be located on-line at: https://www.sutherlandshire.nsw.gov.au/Development/Public-Domain-Works 2.5 General Preparation of Construction Environmental Management Plan (refer 12.1 for details) Site establishment, including environmental control measures and erection of signage (refer 6.1 – 6.6 for details) - location of skip bins, storage facilities and site sheds to be approved by the Superintendent. Protection of adjacent buildings and structures Provision of shop drawings for all fabricated items. Traffic Control to TfNSW and Sutherland shire Council specifications 2.6 Survey Sutherland Shire Council has survey information available for the site. All existing levels provided on the tender drawings shall be verified by the contractor on site. All survey works required to complete the works are to be included in the tender price. 2.7 Construction The following is a brief outline of works to be undertaken. For full scope of works refer to the drawings and specifications in the Appendices. Footpaths Identify and protect existing services Demolish existing footpath and kerb in the site area. Remove palms as specified in Item 11 Excavation to depths required for installation of slab paving base and electrical infrastructure. Construction of concrete slab to specifications including sub-base. Construction of road kerb Adjustments to traffic signals Supply and installation of bluestone and porphyry unit pavers Supply and installation of fixture such as bollards Adjustment of pit heights as required including supply and installation of infill pit lids Road Demolition of south side parking lane to extent required in Appendix A including disposal of spoil (refer also 1.11 of this document) Excavation of pits for trees Construction of kerbing for tree blisters Construction of dish drain Supply and installation of stormwater amendments including pit, grates and connection to existing stormwater line. Installation of stratacells / structural soil (final to be determined) Planting of trees as supplied by Council including supply and installation of tree grates and guards 16. Electrical Installation of council supplied electrical distribution board for new lighting Supply and installation and connection of electrical infrastructure including pits, conduits, electrical wiring and under-boring across the road. Installation of lighting. Concrete component of pole footings to be supplied by the Contractor. Light poles, luminaires and planted roots to be supplied by Council. Electrical supply to be taken from Council’s new distribution board in Surf Lane as shown in Appendices D, E and H Coordination with Council engaged ASP 1 contractor for removal of existing Ausgrid poles Coordination with Council engaged Telstra approved contractor for amendment / installation of Telstra pits Site disestablishment.
