Summary and scope

Kyogle Council is committed to the design, delivery, management and maintenance of high-quality, programmable and activated spaces. Council adopted a comprehensive Open Space Design Guide (OSDG) in 2020, which identifies the rationale for planning and purposing key spaces and places across the Kyogle local government area (LGA). This guide signals a clear commitment on behalf of Council to work collaboratively with the community to establish a new standard in the design and appointment of public spaces. Building on the framework established by the OSDG (that was subject to community consultation), Council has subsequently commissioned the 'Kyogle Public Realm and Streetscape Revitalisation' Project. This initiative focuses on the key streets, spaces and assets in and around the commercial heart of Kyogle and promotes the high-quality appointment of the public realm to support town centre vitality and viability. We are now seeking suitably qualified consultants to provide tenders to progress the work undertake to date, with an ultimate aim of delivering construction ready designs and documentation. The proposed design project is split into two parts: • The ‘Civic Heart’ design: which will provide a focal point along Stratheden Street for the life of the Kyogle community offering a flexible space that can cater to events and civic functions • The Main Street and laneways design: which aims to improve safety, amenity and functionality of various streets and lanes in the CBD
