Summary and scope
Mount Barker District Council ( invites Tenders from Tenderers for the purchase of Shoulder widening services (the Services). The Council will enter into a Lump Sum Contract for the Purchase of Services with the successful Tenderer. Council requires shoulder widening services on Old Mount Barker Road near Echunga. The works are Black Spot funded and required to be complete by 31 May 2023. Traffic volumes on Old Mount Barker Road are steadily increasing in line with nearby residential development and are expected to increase further. To address safety concerns a 2.7km section of Old Mount Barker Road is required to be upgraded. Upgrades are limited to localised problem areas and include shoulder widening, guard rail with motorcycle under-run protection, linemarking, signage and culvert extensions where required to accommodate the road widening. It is anticipated that rock excavation will be required to achieve the desired widening in some areas. Tree removals are required in some areas to facilitate shoulder widening and improve sight lines. At the time of tendering, tree removals nominated on the drawings are being considered for approval by the Native Vegetation Council. The Successful contractor should be able to demonstrate competence in shoulder widening activities while maintaining the safe operation of the road throughout construction.
