Summary and scope

Richmond Valley Council (RVC) is seeking to replace a low-loader in the current RVC Fleet. The current configuration Low Loader is an 4X4 Full Widening trailer with a GVM rating of 57,000 Kg. RVC envisages the replacement Low Loader will be a 3X4 Full Widening Low Loader with a GVM rating of approximately 40,000 Kg due to a change in requirements since the current unit was procured. The role this low-loader will perform in Council is the transportation of heavy plant to sites in the RVC LGA and surrounding LGA’s as required. The low-loader will also at times be required to pick up and/or return plant items to dealers located along the East Coast. The largest items in the current RVC fleet that the low-loader will be required to transport are: • Wirtgen Road Stabiliser model WR200i (9160mm) • Komatsu Grader model GD655-7 (10875mm transport length with rippers down) NOTE: Please confirm sizing for these plant items to be certain they can be accommodated by the quoted low loader – RVC relies on the manufactures for their expertise in recommending a design that meets or exceeds Councils current requirements and is open to all suggestions that will improve the design or efficiency of the proposed trailer. NOTE: Council still requires a full widening low loader due to transport requirements of rented equipment and potential planned purchases in the future. NOTE: Due to the geographical location of the Richmond Valley Council this Low Loader will be required to operate in NSW and QLD and must meet all applicable design rules of both states.
