Dial Before You Dig information must be obtained as a check prior to commencement of construction. Construction should only proceed if: • Cable location information has been obtained via “1100 - Dial Before You Dig”; • Service location plans are on site at all times; • Information about underground cables has been supplied to construction workers; The Contractor shall avoid interference with or damage to property on or adjacent to the site and shall provide temporary protection for and shall repair and reinstate any damaged property, including concrete footpaths, Trees, Turf, services, storm water and survey infrastructure. SITE ESTABLISHMENT Contractor is responsible for the establishment of the site including but not limited to temporary fencing and erosion control as required. Temporary fencing to be minimum 1800mm chain mesh builders compound fence with lockable gate to be installed to the worksite perimeter to the satisfaction of PCC Project Supervisor. HOLD POINTS Hold points must be adhered to. Contact Council's Project Supervisor for the project. Give not less than 48 hours' notice so that inspections may be made of the following; • Inspection of Tree Protection Measures (Refer Plan 1000 for Tree Protection Zones) • Setout of centreline of path & retaining walls prior to excavation & formwork • Completion of all Setout- pavement areas, edgings, retaining walls and fixtures. • Prepared formwork for concrete edging prior to pouring • Prepared formwork for concrete pavement prior to pouring • Drainage behind retaining walls and excavated infiltration pit prior to any backfill. • Finish of grades to smooth & uniform surfaces and • Cultivation/ ripping of ground prior to laying fill & topsoil for planting and turf areas COMPLETION After completion of works, remove all construction debris from site and leave the site in a finished condition. Site shall be free from debris with all damaged surfaces & assets rectified before site fencing is removed. DEFECTS LIABILITY PERIOD The Contractor shall repair and reinstate at its own cost all defects caused by poor workmanship or inferior quality material, including cracking and settlement, which become evident during the Defects Liability Period. SITE PREPARATION TREE PROTECTION Trees to be retained near the work area must be protected in accordance with AS44970-2009 Protection of Trees on Development Sites. Refer to drawing Sheet1000 and Arborists Report for Tree Protection Zones. During pre-construction works, a Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) barrier consisting of protective bunting fencing must be erected around existing trees adjacent to any proposed works and are to be protected and retained on site. Tree protection zones (TPZ) are to be 12 times the trunk diameter at breast height (this may be reduced after consultation with Council's Tree Management Officer or Landscape Architect). The TPZ must be erected and approved by Council's Project Supervisor, prior to construction beginning. They must be erected so that that they are not easily toppled, broken or removed. If the TPZ fence is inadvertently damaged or removed then it must be properly repaired before any works on the site continue. The TPZ must remain erected and intact throughout the construction period (until all works have been completed). Where concrete path works are proposed within TPZ areas, cutting ground is to be minimised. Concrete pavement is to be placed on grade where possible or on fill where there is a requirement to meet accessibility requirements gradients to path works. Protective measures for existing trees include: • Minimising machinery movement over surfaces adjacent to existing trees; • Keeping deleterious material including oil, petrol, cement, bitumen, spillage from washing operations and similar contaminants clear of trees including their root systems; • No stockpiling of materials or vehicle parking over root systems. All existing trees around and adjacent to the site shall be adequately protected from damage. During excavation works tree roots in excess of 50mm diameter shall not be cut. Where necessary tree roots shall be saw-cut back to a clean cut by a suitably qualified Cert 111 Arborist or Horticulturist. Do not treat the wound. DEMOLITION Remove concrete path slab in areas as indicated on Sheet 1000. Ensure to sawcut as per the radius of the proposed new pavement circle, as indicated on the plans. Dispose of legally off site. WEED ERADICATION, REMOVAL OF MULCH, GRASSES & TURF IN PAVEMENT & GARDEN BED AREAS Chemical sprays shall be limited to non-residual glyphosate herbicide in any of its registered formulae, at manufacturers recommended maximum rate & method. Ensure spraying does not occur on windy days. All weed growth shall be removed from the site. Continue eradication throughout the course of the works and during the plant establishment period. EARTHWORKS Carry out earthworks to sub-grades as required to meet the final levels, any proposed deviation from the design levels shall be submitted to the Project Supervisor and Landscape architect for approval. Excavated material is to be used on site where possible, topsoil shall be stripped at the beginning of the project and stockpiled for re-instatement at project completion. Subsoils & topsoils are to be stockpiled separately, in locations as noted on the plans, Sheet 3000. Use of excavated material is to be signed off by PCC Project Supervisor. Prior to placing site subsoil in proposed garden bed area on embankment behind retaining wall 'SSR2', and before placing topsoils in any other garden bed areas rip existing ground 200mm deep to key in soil layers. Where ripping of soil is to occur within the drip zone of any tree, radial ripping outward from the tree, should be perform to limit damage to tree roots. Soils shall be blended on site and capped with 200mm stockpiled topsoil from site. Location and levels of any excess fill shall be confirmed on site with PCC Landscape Architect. Resultant landform is to not adversely effect site drainage. Turf areas are to be ripped 200mm deep, capped with 30mm turf topsoil as per the details & graded to a smooth, free draining, even surface ready for turfing. Allow underlay to finish 20mm below finished path levels to allow for turf to finish flush against paths. Other garden bed areas are to have 200mm site topsoil, graded to drain freely. Allow 75mm above for mulch to meet adjacent levels. SURFACES CONCRETE PATHS & SLAB Concrete pavement is to sit flush with adjoining levels, excavate as required to ensure flush finish with adjoining levels. Cross fall of slab is to follow existing grade but is not to exceed 1:40. All new pavement is to have a broom finish perpendicular to the direction of travel. Concrete slab thickness and reinforcement to be as noted on plans. Width of footpaths, set out of pavement areas and cross fall directions are to be as noted on the plans. The extent of the concrete pour with respect to prevailing weather conditions shall be discussed with Project Supervisor. Finished pavement levels must ensure no trip hazards & where they adjoin existing surfaces and must be adjusted prior to pouring the concrete. Tolerance +/ - 5mm. Install 10mm expansion joints to full depth of concrete at 6m centers and adjoining rigid pavements, kerbs, concrete edging etc; control joints to be centred between expansion joints. Control joint 4mm wide to 25mm depth, saw cut within 48hrs. Ensure expansion joints between concrete edges and adjacent pavements.
