Summary and scope
Notice to Tenderers The City of Greater Dandenong is seeking tenders for the full reconstruction of section of the Ordish Road, Dandenong South between Bessemer Drive and South Park Drive. The section was found to be in poor condition, with reactive swamp and lake deposits as the subgrade and lesser pavement thickness compared to other sections which have triggered the need of full-depth reconstruction for this particular section. Council has carried out a geo technical investigation on Ordish Road to analyse the condition of the existing pavement. According to geotechnical investigation report, existing pavement depth varied throughout the section and ranges from 300 to 400 mm thick. It generally comprises 70-100 mm asphalt surfacing, 140-250 mm base course (sandy medium gravel) over a fill silty gravel or natural silty clay subgrade. The existing pavement surfacing is in a fair to poor condition with crocodile cracking and patching. The section from Bessemer Drive to South Park Drive has a relatively thin pavement layer, necessitating subgrade improvement. Pavement design for reconstruction was completed and there are two pavement options being considered to implement. Tenderers are required to submit prices for both options, Council at their own discretion will nominate one of the two options during evaluation process.
