Summary and scope
Broken Hill City Council is committed to safeguarding its public art collection by preserving the City’s artistic legacy and enhancing the cultural value, to ensure that it continues to enrich the lives of residents and visitors. As such Council invites quotation for the restoration and preservation of 10 critical art pieces which were identified in a public art audit condition report, prepared by specialist firm Grimwade Conservation Services in 2022. The report identified two artworks with a rating of “Very Poor” and eight artworks rated as “Poor”, nine of which require immediate attention due to environmental exposure and other deteriorating factors. Additionally, one further item rated “Fair” is also included in the scope for restoration and preservation works due to its cultural significance to the community and the Artist’s world renowned status. This Quotation seeks to comprehensively restore the artworks to their original condition and ensure their long-term preservation and aesthetic integrity. The work is required to be completed within the 2024/2025 financial year.
