Summary and scope
Lilydale Lake is a public recreation area used by pedestrians, families, runners, cyclists, maintenance crews and visitors. The project is an outcome of the Lilydale Lake Master Plan, adopted in 2024, and is supported by funding through the Federal Community Infrastructure: Thriving Suburbs & Growing Regions grant program, receiving a $1.5 million grant for improvements to the recreation space and an upgrade to existing infrastructure. The proposed bridge is to formalize pedestrian access across Olinda Creek between the existing path network, dog off-leash area, car parking area and nearby recreation facilities. The existing crossing is informal and consists of rocks within the creek. It does not provide a suitable long-term pedestrian crossing. Council is seeking a safe, durable and low-maintenance pedestrian bridge that connects practically into the existing path network.
