The line will bypass Cootamundra and the steep and windy Bethungra Range with the Bethungra Spiral.Bypassing the Bethungra Spiral will improve reliability and reduce travel distance by approximately 23 kilometres.Burley Griffin Way will undergo a major realignment and a new road over rail bridge will be built. This will enable the closure of one of the existing rail level crossings in Stockinbingal, improving safety. In addition, Ironbong Road will undergo a minor realignment around the proposed level crossing to improve safety. The project connects with the Albury to Illabo (A2I) and Stockinbingal to Parkes (S2P) enhancement projects.Description of works involvedThe works include:- 39 kilometres of new single track standard gauge railway- Construction of 11 bridges, 8 being across waterways, 2 rail over road and 1 road over rail- Construction of 1 crossing loop and associated maintenance siding- Construction of 5 public level crossings and 8 private level crossings- Construction of 11 stock underpasses- Construction and upgrade of 88 new and existing cross drainage culverts- Construction of 27 longitudinal drainage culverts below level crossings-Upgrading approximately 3km of track and formation within the existing rail corridorFor more information on the Illabo to Stockinbingal Project visit www.inlandrail.com.au/i2sAbout John HollandWe're in the business of transforming lives.
