Founded in 2018 as part of the global Octopus Group, the business manages over $2.3 billion in assets across wind, solar, and battery storage, with a portfolio and pipeline valued at more than $16 billion.Octopus Australia's integrated approach combines generation and storage to deliver firmed, dispatchable renewable energy at scale, directly replacing the capacity lost as coal-fired power stations retire. The company manages projects across their full lifecycle with an in-house team of over 65 specialists spanning investment, energy markets, engineering, development, construction, and community engagement.A procurement process for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor is currently underway, with a preferred contractor to be announced in August 2026.Octopus Australia is committed to supporting local and neighbouring communities and businesses. This page has been created to gather a database and understanding of local contractors to be shared with the EPC contractor once appointed.About the Coleambally Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project:The Coleambally BESS Project is a 100MW / 400MWh (4 hour) standalone Battery Energy Storage System located in southern New South Wales, approximately 7.5 km north of the Coleambally township in the Murrumbidgee region.The project complements Octopus Australia's existing generation footprint in the area, particularly the Darlington Point Solar Farm, by providing flexible dispatch capability and strengthening grid reliability.The facility will charge from excess daytime solar generation and discharge during evening peak demand periods, supporting New South Wales' statutory target of 2GW of new storage by 2030.The project will connect to the electricity network via a 1 km underground cable to the Transgrid Coleambally 132 kV Substation to be extended by Lumea/Transgrid.
