Summary and scope
Toowoomba Regional Council (Council) is planning the delivery of a new water treatment plant (Southern Water Treatment Plant Project) to meet growing regional demand and enhance the security and resilience of the region's potable water supply. The new Toowoomba to Warwick Pipeline provides an opportunity for Council to access an additional raw water source in the south-western Toowoomba Region. Integrating a new potable water supply asset into Council's network would increase treatment capacity, reduce reliance on the existing Mt Kynoch Water Treatment Plant and support the region's future growth and long-term water security. The Project is expected to comprise: a new water treatment plant with a nominal capacity of 25 ML/day, with provision for future expansion up to 50ML/day, together with associated distribution infrastructure; approximately 14.7 km of trunk water mains; a pipeline from SWTP to Mt Peel Reservoir; a Drayton Booster Pump Station; a water storage reservoir near Mount Peel Bushland Reserve; and a raw-water offtake from the Toowoomba to Warwick Pipeline. The Project will be jointly funded by the Queensland Government and Council and designed to be delivered as a single, integrated package of works by the successful D&C Contractor.
